Dynamic You Fitness – A West Los Angeles Workout Studio

mom blogger los angeles fitness

I love to work out, but I’m not a fan of the gym. That’s not true; I’m not a fan of big LA gyms where the people are Hollywood skinny, the outfits are perfect, and everyone is trying to hook up over their spin bikes.

I thought my gym days were over until I was contacted by Dynamic You Fitness. It’s a small studio that to me felt instantly welcoming. I’ve taken a couple of classes there, Beach Ready Toning and Nike Training Club, and loved them.

Beach Ready Toning was taught by Robin Legat, who was very nice and patient with me considering that moving my arms and legs simultaneously is not one of my strong suits. It was a tough class, but doable and I felt strong days after. The second time I went it was a little different and still great. Not only was Robin a lovely teacher, but she’s my new hero because in addition to teaching fitness she’s in the L.A. Derby Dolls, LA’s roller derby league.

The Nike Training Club was challenging, but fun, too. I did it yesterday with instructor Donna and I’m feeling it today. I’m proud to say I did a minute of burpees, doing full push ups,  not on my knees (unfortunately, I did not look the woman in the video linked to here).

Dynamic You has classes in the morning and evening including Zumba, a bootcamp, and Dynamic Core: Kettlebells + TRX, which is a core focused workout that uses resistance bands and kettlebells. It sounds really hard, but it’s the next class I’m going to try.

If you want to try it too, you can enter my giveaway for a free week of classes at Dynamic You plus a $30 credit toward a future class or package. You must live in Los Angeles to win and the prize cannot be redeemed for cash.

All you must do to enter is leave a comment below before the end of the day on July 4. I’ll choose one winner using Random.org and announce it on July 5.

Dynamic You also has personal training that you can do solo or with a friend.  For more information, see below.

Master of the Glass Half Full Photo Contest

Being a positivity ambassador has really helped me in the last week. I’m now approaching life with a much better attitude. And it’s an attitude that my son, pictured above, already has. He is a glass half-full kind of guy all the way and I love it. He’s always putting a smile on my face with his excellent take on life. Now your child can catch a little positivismo with the help of the Maestro. As part of the Master of the Glass Half Full Campaign, parents can enter a Facebook photo contest to win prizes. All you need to do is go to the Maestro’s Facebook page and upload a picture of your child holding a glass of milk just like the Maestro.

The prizes are great for families with little milk drinkers. The 1st place prize is a french door stainless steel refrigerator with a year’s supply of milk. 2nd place is a bicycle with a front child seat and a year’s supply of milk. And 3rd place is a professional blender with a year’s supply of milk.

Photos will be accepted now through October 21st. Online voting runs from October 24th through October 28th. Make sure to check back because the winner will be announced on Monday, November 7.

For a little inspiration, here is a letter from the Maestro himself. letter_master_eng_yvonneLA

She Runs LA Giveaway

Well, after the disaster that was the LA Marathon for me, I can finally run again. And I’m so excited that I can.

Nike is having a virtual run for women called She Runs LA. Starting at 4 p.m. April 27 and lasting 24 hours, participants can run a 10k and sync it to Nike using a Nike+ device, which is an iphone, itouch or Nike SportsBand. Women can do it alone or invite friends to join in.

Thanks to Nike, I’m giving away 50 promo codes to register for the race!

Anyone who signs up to do the run gets a Nike race shirt and access to a Hollywood red carpet party at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles at 7 p.m. on April 28. There will a concert by Mike Posner, celebrities, and sports stars.

Even better than celebrities, if you do this race you don’t have to get up at 5 a.m., trek across town, and sit in the cold waiting for the race to start. You can walk out your front door and run anytime you want.

And the race is for a good cause. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Students Run LA, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to increase access to the sport of running for under served youth across LA Unified School District.

The tickets are $35 for students and $50 for the general public. All you have to do to win a free promo code is be one of the first 50 people to leave a comment below with your contact information and I’ll email you the codes. You must live in the United States to enter. Thanks and Good Luck on the Run!

Disclosure: I wasn’t compensated for this post, but I was given a promo code to enter the race for free.
