I wrote this post for LA Moms Blog about Arizona’s controversial immigration law. The Arizona Legislature changed some of the law’s wording Thursday night to say that police can only ask people for their papers if they’ve been stopped and questioned for some reason. It seems to me like they did it to try to stop some of the many civil rights lawsuits, but this language change isn’t enough.
I also don’t think the change will stop the hundreds of thousands of people from marching in demonstrations all over the country tomorrow. Police are expecting 100,000 people to show up in downtown Los Angeles.
