Maya Independent Film Series Giveaway

So excited about this. I don’t do a lot of giveaways, but I couldn’t pass this up. One thing that bothers me about television and film is that so often when you see a Latino character they are a sidekick or a stereotype.

But that is not the case with films at the Maya Indie Film Series. Maya Entertainment makes culturally diverse independent films. It’s holding a film festival featuring some amazing Latino actors, writers, and directors.

I’m going to see “Without Men” starring Eva Longoria and I’m hoping to make it to “All She Can,” about a girl from Texas trying to earn a college scholarship through Powerlifting. It was an official selection at 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

Other films include “Forged “ and “Sympathy for Delicious” with Mark Ruffalo and Juliette Lewis, two of my favorite actors.

The Film Series is running now through Aug. 4. I’m giving away 2 tickets to the LA film series for showings on Aug. 3 and 4. All you need to do to win is live in Los Angeles and leave a comment here with your contact information before noon Sunday. I’ll announce the winner Sunday evening. You also need to be able to make it one of these screenings at the Laemmle Sunset 5.

Congratulations, Maria! You’re the winner!

The Kids Are All Right

I found this preview last night and I was planning to write about how I really wanted to see this movie. But as luck would have it Elise, of Elise’s Ramblings, got us into a screening. I can’t talk about yet, but I really want to!! It has Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, and Mark Ruffalo. It comes out in a few weeks, but in the meantime you can watch this trailer.
