Yo!!! I won the Grand Prize in the Creative Screen Yo!!! I won the Grand Prize in the Creative Screenwriting Pilot Competition for my television pilot, Hacienda del Sol!! I’m so thankful and honored and excited!

As someone who spends most of her days locked in a room with a laptop, it feels incredible to be recognized for something I’ve worked very hard to create.

I’m so in love with the women in this world and I hope someday you all get to meet them!

Hacienda del Sol
In 1899, a fierce Mexican woman on the run from her past along with her three teen daughters, lands in Los Angeles, a corrupt boomtown where criminals and dreamers go to make their fortune. In a desperate bid for survival, she thrusts herself into the employ of an old friend, the formidable matriarch of Hacienda del Sol and the most powerful woman in California.
Gloria Calderón Kellett and Justina Machado talk t Gloria Calderón Kellett and Justina Machado talk to Jolene Rodriguez about meeting Norman Lear, creating and starring in One Day at a Time, and how they knew Isabella Gomez and Marcel Ruiz were the ones. Thank you, Friends of Julie for the incredible afternoon! I met great people and got to fangirl over Gloria, Justina, and Patricia Riggen! All of the speakers were so inspiring!

These ladies! Our niece and sister-in-law put on o These ladies! Our niece and sister-in-law put on one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever been to! They made 300 cupcakes - raspberry with homemade lemon curd, bourbon vanilla caramel, and vegan gluten free to name a few, plus a mini wedding cake! My niece who has a big, full time job btw made or ordered the decorations and she even altered her mom’s wedding dress herself to make her adorable rehearsal dinner dress. I dream of being as organized as these two.
May was one incredible event after another. Alec g May was one incredible event after another. Alec graduated from the U of A (so proud!!), our niece put on a fabulous wedding in Virginia, and I attended the CineStory writing retreat in Idlewild. So much traveling after hardly going outside in March and April.
