Mount Waialeale Kauai (photo by Yvonne Condes)

I’ve been thinking about the color green lately and not just because it’s the topic for this week’s Wordless Wednesday. It hasn’t rained in Los Angeles in months and it hasn’t been this dry in more than 100 years. I grew up in Tucson and Los Angeles had always seemed so lush and green to me. As I watch our lawn dry up, I’m reminded that we live in a desert. This picture was taken from a helicopter in Kauai at Mount Waialeale, one of the wettest place on earth. It averages 460 inches of rainfall every year. If only we could have just 20.
