These ladies! Our niece and sister-in-law put on o These ladies! Our niece and sister-in-law put on one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever been to! They made 300 cupcakes - raspberry with homemade lemon curd, bourbon vanilla caramel, and vegan gluten free to name a few, plus a mini wedding cake! My niece who has a big, full time job btw made or ordered the decorations and she even altered her mom’s wedding dress herself to make her adorable rehearsal dinner dress. I dream of being as organized as these two.
May was one incredible event after another. Alec g May was one incredible event after another. Alec graduated from the U of A (so proud!!), our niece put on a fabulous wedding in Virginia, and I attended the CineStory writing retreat in Idlewild. So much traveling after hardly going outside in March and April.
Previewing LACMA’s stunning new gallery was like b Previewing LACMA’s stunning new gallery was like being on a European vacation. We took thousands of steps, lost each other almost immediately upon entering the museum, and we were starving after hours of walking around (while still feeling like we hadn’t seen everything). Plus, we went on a member preview day full of very fancy people in fabulous day-at-the-museum wear. Excellent people watching. The David Geffen Galleries open to the public May 4.
Demonstrators were out on the streets all over Los Demonstrators were out on the streets all over Los Angeles yesterday from Santa Monica to Pasadena for the national shutdown. These photos/videos are from Santa Monica, Boyle Heights and Downtown Los Angeles. Thousands of people marched and they were young, old, all nationalities and ethnicities. I left when tear gas was thrown from DHS at the Metropolitan Detention Center and before they gave the dispersal order to the people who were still there. (Check out @lataco for their coverage of that.) I personally saw an older man (who was probably my age) sitting on the sidewalk trying to get the chemicals out of his eyes and an agent on the roof shooting something, non lethals. Other than that, it was peaceful, which is significant considering all of the violence people have had to endure this last month. Yes, it’s still January.
The Writers Lab founders came to LA last week to c The Writers Lab founders came to LA last week to check in with past Lab alums (I’m class of 2024!) and to announce their new initiative with MountainA, Natalie Portman and Sophie Mas’ production company. The Industry Advocacy Program will help get projects in front of industry reps and executives.

Nia Vardalos was a special guest at the fundraiser at the fabulous Goldwyn house in Hollywood. #losangeleswriters #thewriterslab #womenscreenwriters
