June Fifteen

Today I’m doing my first-ever giveaway. Because I’m an entrepreneur with a story to tell, I’m going to start highlighting other local small businesses and the amazing people who started them. I don’t get paid to do it, but I thought it would be interesting.

I picked my first subject because I really like this product and the woman behind it. Sandrine Cassidy Schmitt’s company June Fifteen makes reusable shopping bags that are sturdy and stylish. They’re made from the same components as coffee and potato bags – jute and rattan cane, or 100 % cotton canvas. So you can carry a lot in them and they won’t break down on you.

I bought the bag pictured in the top left corner over the summer and I love it. The Palette Bag has a compartment for a bottle of wine and a water bottle (or two bottles of wine depending how you think your evening will go) and a large area to put snacks. A zipped pocket inside the bag holds your keys or chocolate bar. When I bought it, Sandrine said it was perfect for the Hollywood Bowl. I bought it for that very reason, and even though I haven’t used it for that, I do use it a lot.

Another great bag is the one I’m giving away today. What’s cool about it is that it’s made of canvas and it’s also waterproof inside. It’s a wide bag with a handy outside pocket. It retails for $13.99. But you can have it for free if you’re the lucky winner. Just leave a comment before Nov. 29 and on Nov. 30, I’ll announce the winner.

June Fifteen is a member of 1% for the Planet, which means if you choose to buy one of her bags, 1% of the sale will go to environmental organizations.

If you would like to win this beautiful bag to the right, please leave a comment before Nov. 29. Thanks!
